Day 5: MCNC’s team efforts recognized with awards in 2024
MCNC has been a trusted community partner in North Carolina for nearly 45 years in large part because it continuously invests in its tremendous team of experts. MCNC’s staff were recognized for their efforts this year with multiple awards from local media and other organizations.
In June, the Triangle Business Journal once again named MCNC as one of its 2024 Best Places to Work, an award celebrating organizations that have gone above and beyond to create an outstanding work culture. MCNC placed sixth in their category at the TBJ Awards Ceremony on Aug. 15.
“We are proud that MCNC was recognized again as one of the TBJ ‘Best Places to Work,’ said Matthew Kinney, MCNC’s senior director of human resources. “It is a reflection of the work culture we’ve developed over many years that empowers our team members to really support each other and our customers. It’s repeatedly clear that each team member’s confidence to contribute their skills and respect each other has made MCNC a supportive and customer-focused work environment.”
MCNC’s visionary leadership is another reason it remains successful and committed to the community. This fall, MCNC CEO and President Tracy Doaks was named one of the 2024 recipients of the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award from NC State University’s College of Engineering. Tracy, an alum of the program, was recognized for her outstanding achievements and dedication in advancing engineering excellence.
“I strive to always make a positive impact, whether my name is attached to it or not,” said Doaks. “Being recognized in this way reaffirms that I should continue to work tirelessly for my university, state and community. As many may know, I firmly believe in having a cohesive leadership team. We must be agile in our decision-making, consistent in our communication, and ensure that our behavior and processes support our decisions.”
In an increasingly digital world, cyber threats continue to rise. MCNC’s experts are meeting the challenge with its Vital Cyber portfolio of solutions. MCNC Director of Cybersecurity Services Ruthy Mabe was named a NextTech Rising Star by the North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH) in April. The award is a testament to Ruthy’s leadership and dedication to cybersecurity at MCNC.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this recognition of the hard work and dedication my team and I have put in over the past few years,” said Mabe. “The award recognized me, but it’s really a reflection of the fact that so many teams across MCNC strive every day to innovate, adapt, and protect against evolving threats in today’s digital landscape.”
As MCNC grows its team heading into 2025, it will continue to foster a collaborative and forward-thinking culture in its efforts to expand the North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN) and deliver its service offerings to our state’s important community anchor institutions.
