Podcast: eNCore’s First Impression is a Powerful and Lasting One
North Carolina’s broadband challenges require bold strategies and action. Like many other states, North Carolina now has a much clearer understanding of just how wide the digital divide really is and why high-speed internet is considered a 21st century utility.
On today's MCNC Community Connect podcast, MCNC President and CEO Tracy Doaks is joined by Marshall Cherry, Chief Executive Officer of Roanoke Cooperative; Bo Coughlin, Chief Operations Officer at FYBE; and Jim Nester, MCNC’s Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Director of Marketing and Client Advocacy, to discuss the story behind the creation of eNCore. Listen the latest episode here.
eNCore was formed as a shared call to action to remedy the technology inequities that keep many in North Carolina from reaching their full potential. This new non-profit formed between Fybe and MCNC merges assets, expertise and relationships to improve the economic landscape of North Carolina by offering affordable and sustainable internet access to residences, businesses, and community anchor institutions in many underserved and overlooked areas of the state.
Smart investments to bridge the digital divide can change the lives of so many, and the work being done at eNCore is not just generational but historic. Community-driven, scalable models like eNCore with a clear mission that encourages open participation and collaboration from all levels will drive North Carolina's economy to new heights. As you will hear during this discussion, access to high-speed broadband is more than a technology issue; it is a quality of life as well as a quality of opportunity issue. eNCore is the unique foundation for next-generation connectivity for everyone in North Carolina.
